CPB Contractors is committed to creating a more inclusive industry that embraces diversity and builds capacity across the construction industry. This commitment is demonstrated on the Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s Fleurieu Connections Alliance project where Daniela da Silva, a Site Engineer with CPB Contractors, is part of the team delivering the Main South Road and Victor Harbor Duplication project in South Australia.
Arriving in Australia in 2018 with a strong foundation in construction and an Engineering degree from Sao Paulo University, Daniela shares what the road to her rewarding career with CPB Contractors has been like.
“I arrived in Australia excited and determined, when I secured my role on the Fleurieu Connections Alliance project I was elated and ready to get to work,” said Daniela.
Daniela was quickly recognised for her technical expertise, team player mentality and leadership skills.
“I jumped at the chance to take on night shifts and gained valuable experience and exposure… It opened up great opportunities including taking on senior engineering responsibilities,” shares Daniela.
Within months, Daniela was recognised for her exceptional commitment and contribution to the team and awarded the project’s highest internal achievement award.
Daniela’s advice to women considering a career in construction or engineering is to follow their passion and believe in themselves.
“Choose a specialisation that excites you and a company that aligns with your strengths and believes in you and your skills,” she said.
Females make up 33% of the team on the Fleurieu Connections Alliance project, and Daniela’s journey is one example of how CPB Contractors is leveraging its expertise to empower local workforces and foster a diverse and inclusive industry.
