Powerlink’s CopperString 2032 Experience Centre has officially opened in Townsville, Queensland, providing visitors a unique and interactive way to explore the transformative 840km transmission line project - CopperString 2032.
The centre has been designed to engage visitors of all ages with exhibits that delve into the future of renewable energy, including a walkthrough timeline of Queensland’s energy history, a helicopter simulator that showcases the aerial work required to deliver the project and a dedicated space to build-your-own transmission towers.
The CopperString 2032 project, being delivered by CPB Contractors in a joint venture with fellow CIMIC Group company UGL, is set to enhance energy infrastructure across North Queensland. The Experience Centre highlights CPB Contractors and UGL’s role in delivering the project, which includes the design, construction and commissioning of four new substations, two substation extensions and approximately 840kms of high voltage transmission lines.
Open seven days a week with free entry; the centre is designed to engage visitors of all ages with exhibits that delve into the future of renewable energy.
