CPB Contractors, as part of the Fleurieu Connections Alliance delivering the Department of Infrastructure and Transport’s Main South Road Duplication Project Stage 2, shared their time and skills to support the production of a local film in Normanville.
The project team successfully coordinated traffic, closing off the main street of Normanville for several hours to facilitate filming a Yankalilla Youth Theatre film, Tumbleweed. Set in the Wild West, the outdoor set had a variety of eye-catching elements, including cacti, western-themed hobby horses, a cardboard stagecoach and tumbleweeds. The day proved to be the top attraction for many Normanville locals, who also donned cowboy hats and participated as extras in the film.
Evette Wolf, the film’s writer, expressed gratitude to the project team for their support.
"It was a major part of the project that would have been impossible without the project's support,’ she said. ‘We were also able to safely host many more community members thanks to their help throughout the process.’
The Tumbleweek cast was made up of members of the Yankalilla Youth Theatre, aged 9 to 12 years, who hail from towns across the Fleurieu region, along with community actors, including the local mayor.
CPB Contractors' delivery of the Main South Road Duplication 2 Project includes the construction of a six-kilometre road duplication between Aldinga Road and Sellicks Beach Road as part of the Fleurieu Connections Alliance. Works here also include urban design, services installation, staging or temporary works, construction of civil and structures, including a new interchange at Aldinga, installation of road monitoring cameras and variable message sign (VMS) board, and landscaping.
