Exciting news! The Tseung Kwan O–Lam Tin Tunnel (TKO-LTT) project has been awarded the Infrastructure Category Grand Prize at the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Grand Award 2024.
This accolade recognises outstanding achievement in project delivery, safety excellence and continuous innovation.
With extensive experience and expertise, safely delivering mega projects in densely populated environments is amongst #LeightonAsia ‘s core capabilities.
TKO-LTT provides an express link between East Kowloon and Tseung Kwan O that has reduced the travelling distance from 7km to 4km and shortened the journey time by approximately 20 minutes during peak hours, to ease the city’s traffic congestion.
Key project achievements include:
- Construction of a tunnel bifurcation, 200m long, 30m wide, and 14m high with a face area of 345m2, by advanced drill and blasting
- The first road tunnel with a ventilation building partly constructed inside a cavern
- The first project to implement a temporary steel cofferdam and a double water gate system for reclamation works.
We salute everyone involved for contributing to the project’s success!
Thank you to our Leighton Asia team members, partners and client. Your steadfast commitment and efforts are a driving force, enabling us to create a positive legacy for the communities we serve.
