As proud sponsors of the Children’s Charity Network, we were delighted to present the winner of the Sedgman 2022 Young Australian Indigenous Art Award and Young Australian Writers’ Award at the Young Australian Art & Writers’ Awards in Melbourne.
General Manager, Business Support, Cath Turner, presented awards to talented young people including:
-
Winner of the Young Australian Indigenous Art Award – Ivy Pettit, a grade three primary school student who painted a representation of her family’s holiday in Marriott Falls in Tasmania.
-
Winner of Best Poetry from a Secondary School - Huntar Paterson from Queensland for her focus on human nature in the poem ‘Human’.
Congratulations to all the winners and those who entered! The awards provide a platform to children to appreciate and develop their skills and encourages them to continue in the arts, especially when they see their work published. As part of our focus on community and education, we also proudly sponsored the Children's Charity Network's art workshops in the Bowen Basin, Queensland, earlier this year. Famous children’s illustrator, Marc McBride, held art workshops at primary and high schools around our operational sites in Emerald, Clermont, Collinsville and Moranbah.
At Sedgman we are proud to foster young indigenous talent and education and give back to the remote and rural communities where we work.
