Thiess’ scholarship program in Chile has launched its second round of scholarships providing new to industry opportunities for people, particularly women, interested in mining.
Up to 30 scholarships have been offered in Antofagasta to women and men, and also employee relatives.Scholarship recipients complete both in person and online training with our registered training partner CEFOMIN. The two-month program provides students with the knowledge, skills and safe work behaviours to operate the CAEX mining truck.
These skills are sought at many mine sites and are transferable across a number of industries.
Carla Segovia, Carlos Ocayo and Alberto Morgado from the Thiess training team welcomed the students to the facilities on their first day.
Carla, Head of Administration -Training Area, said it was great to meet and greet all the participants, who are all enthusiastic to learn new industry skills.
“They are all excited to start the training and are looking forward to learning more about the mining industry and Thiess,” Carla said.
Executive General Manager Americas, Darrell White and Head of Organisation, Capability and Training, Alejandra Arze, connected via video call to welcome the scholarship students.
The inaugural program officially launched in January this year to support and give back to the community by opening the doors for those wanting to pursue a career in mining.
