Jessica Lynch is no stranger to hitting the ground running. In early 2020, Jess travelled from her home in Sydney to Adelaide to manage the transition and mobilisation of the Torrens Connect - Adelaide Metro contract. Once there, the pandemic took hold and borders were closed.
This challenging role had oversight of critical workstreams and was responsible for project managing the transition. Having Jess represent UGL on the ground during the transition proved to be invaluable: Connecting with the workforce at the Glengowrie tram depot and engaging with staff which resulted in a high staff transition rate.
Torrens Connect is a joint venture between UGL, John Holland and Transit Systems to operate the tram and north-south bus networks on behalf of the South Australian Government. Torrens Connect is responsible for the operations, rolling stock maintenance and rail infrastructure management for eight years from July 2020.
