Ben Spencer recently represented UGL at Toolooa State High School’s Classroom to Career Workshop, run by Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA).
Ben, UGL Electrical Supervisor, spoke as part of a panel of resources industry representatives based at ConocoPhillips’ APLNG site, giving 150 year 10 students insight into professional and vocational pathways for industry employment.
UGL supports new to industry recruits through our apprenticeship and traineeship program. We also provide career pathways through our graduate program. Find out more on our work with us page.
QMEA is the largest industry-led education and school-training in Australia and seeks to educate students on career opportunities in resources, with a focus on Indigenous and female participation. They currently operate within the partnership between the Queensland Resource Council and the Queensland Government’s Gateway to Industry Program.
Shaun Petersen, UGL Contract Manager, said:
“Ben handled it superbly, and was very relatable for the students.”
Community engagement is a focus for UGL. Well done Ben for representing UGL and helping to foster the next generation of resources industry talent.
