TasWater’s Bryn Estyn Water Treatment Plant has been recognised as the overall winner in the category of projects over $150M at the recent Earth Awards hosted by the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) Tasmania. This award is a testament to the exceptional work delivered by the TasWater Alliance, a unique collaboration between TasWater, UGL, and CPB Contractors.
The $244M upgrade of the Bryn Estyn Water Treatment Plant is a significant achievement in securing the future of Hobart’s water supply. The project introduced state-of-the-art filtration technology, boosting daily water production capacity by 40% and ensuring up to 60% of greater Hobart’s water demands are met. This vital infrastructure reduces reliance on aging systems and strengthens the region’s resilience against prolonged dry periods, safeguarding the community’s access to safe, reliable water.
The utilities team at UGL played a crucial role in delivering this project, demonstrating our commitment to providing reliable and innovative water solutions. This award highlights our dedication to creating lasting legacies that support the sustainability and growth of the communities we serve.
The project will now advance to the National CCF Earth Awards in Canberra this November, where it will compete on a national stage.
