UGL had participants from the across the business take part in the NASCA Traditional Indigenous Games (TIG). NASCA, an indigenous-led organisation, empowers young people to strengthen cultural pride and build life skills through personal development. This year marked UGL's third consecutive year as a bronze sponsor for the event, which promotes interactions between regional schools and various corporate partners.
TIG holds cultural significance as they have been played for thousands of years by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. At NASCA, TIGs are now played using modern equipment, blending traditional games with contemporary elements to make them more accessible and engaging for participants. These games not only celebrate Indigenous heritage but promote building skills like speed, agility, accuracy, and teamwork. UGL's team displayed outstanding sportsmanship and enthusiasm, earning second place behind Football Australia.
“The TIG was extremely enjoyable and allowed our teams to directly engage with future leaders from the Indigenous communities,” Dan Delian, Senior Project Manager, UGL.
UGL's participation in the NASCA TIG event reflects our commitment to community engagement and cultural diversity. Engaging and partnering with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities in local events like this is a key commitment within our Reconciliation Action Plan.
