In a world full of technology, it’s important that electromagnetic emissions from new infrastructure, like Cross River Rail, don’t interfere with the normal operation of our devices such as mobile phones or laptop computers.
UGL’s team has completed baseline testing of emissions from Cross River Rail, serving as a reference point before the railway is energised.
Our team conducted tests at the southern area works site near to where trains will be exiting the new tunnel’s southern portal.
Close to this location are significant institutions such as the Translational Research Institute, Princess Alexandra Hospital and CSIRO Ecosciences Precinct.
In addition, baseline testing has been conducted adjacent to the newly constructed Exhibition Station.
This site is close to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital, as well as various medical research and treatment facilities.
The nature of these facilities and institutions deepens the importance of the testing.
Final testing is scheduled for next year to ensure we meet specified standards, before we hand over the new railway for operational service.
UGL is delivering the Cross River Rail, Integration and Systems package in a consortium alongside fellow CIMIC Group company CPB Contractors.
