UGL recently delivered a successful shutdown at Santos’ Gladstone Liquefied Natural Gas (GLNG) facility at Curtis Island in central Queensland. The project showcased UGL’s dedication, technical expertise, and commitment to operational excellence.
Spanning 21 months of planning, a rigorous execution phase, and post-works, the shutdown involved more than 100 UGL personnel. The team provided mechanical services, flange management, rigging, lifting, and logistical coordination, supported by specialist equipment and real-time project tracking tools.
The team achieved a flawless safety record with zero injuries and the flange management team ensured over 400 joints were leak-free during startup.
Other achievements on the shutdown involved:
- Installing 4,400m² of drop protection and 1,000m of edge protection.
- Coordinating logistics for 50 tonnes of equipment in and out.
- Completing 35 machining jobs ranging from 50mm to 600mm.
